The Meeting was chaired by representatives of the Judicial Academy and by the EJTN General Secretary Victor Hall with the participation of the EU Member States´ representatives, the European Commission and the Council of Europe. This year also the Academy of European Law in Trier (ERA) and the observers from Croatia, Norway and Macedonia participated therein.
"The Prague General Assembly had a very high importance for the entire Network and its members. We assessed here the development in the area of the EJTN judicial training in the past years and we prepared its strategy for the forthcoming periods of time", Victor Hall said. The goal of the Assembly was not only to evaluate the current situation of the Network in relation to financing the trainings activities and judicial exchanges, but especially to find new ways for its more effective functionning and gaining better financial chances.
"We informed other EU States about the conclusions of this Assembly at the Justice and Home Affairs Council in Luxembourg on Friday 5 June. There the issues of discussion included, among others, the implementation of the Council Resolution on the training of judges, prosecutors and judicial staff", Daniela Kovářová said.
The EJTN (European Judicial Training Network, http://www.ejtn.net) was set up from the EU´s initiative and its goal is particularly the deepening of judicial cooperation among the Member States. It tries to enlarge and to improve the quality of the offer of training programmes for judges and prosecutors in the European region. The Czech Judicial Academy has been a member of the EJTN since 2006 and it has been successful especially in programmes of the European judicial exchange and in the participation in the EJTN projects in the field of criminal and civil law in the last two years.
