Pavel Simon
Pavel Simon graduated from the Faculty of Law of the West Bohemian University in Pilsen and was also awarded Diploma in Law and Politics from the University of Wales in Cardiff. Since 2001 he worked first as a presiding judge of the Commercial Law Senate at the Regional Court in Pilsen and since 2003 as a presiding judge of the Civil Law Senate at the District Court in Cheb. Kateřina Putnová
Kateřina Putnová has graduated from the Faculty of Law, Masaryk University in Brno (2000). After a language study stay in the UK and a work experience at the Regional Authority of the South Moravia region she joined the Ministry of Justice in 2002. First she worked there as a legal expert at the International Department. Since 2008 she has become the Nominee Head of the EU Civil Law Unit of the International Department for Civil Matters Kateřina speaks fluent English and partially French.

Marta Zavadilová
Marta Zavadilová graduated from the Law Faculty of Charles University (2003 – Master Degree, 2007 – Postgraduate Degree) and spent one year on a scholarship program Erasmus/Sokrates at the Law Faculty of the University of Passau, Germany (2000 – 2001). She started working at the Ministry of Justice in 2003, first as a lawyer, later Director of the International Department. After returning from her maternity leave in November 2008, she works as a lawyer at the International Department for Civil Matters. Marta speaks fluently English and German and understands French. Beside her work at the Ministry she regularly publishes articles in the field of international private law (with a special focus on family law) and spends her free time with her daughter.

Tomáš Břicháček
Tomáš Břicháček graduated from the Law Faculty of Charles University (2007) and the Faculty of Social Science of Charles University (2007), where he was awarded Master Degree diploma in European studies. During his Erasmus program he studied at Université de la Sorbonne Nouvelle - Paris III (2006). He works at the Ministry of Justice since 2007. Tomáš speaks fluently English, French, Spanish and language Esperanto, he understands German, Serbian and Italian. He devotes his free time to publishing, mainly in the area of European law and general political questions of the European integration.

Pavel Odstrčil
Pavel Odstrčil graduated from the Law Faculty of Charles University. Before joining the Ministry of Justice, he had collected experience in international law firms and subsequently had spent some time working for the Ministry of Industry and Trade where he was in charge of coordinating the SME support policies. He has worked for the Ministry of Justice since 2007, when he took over the agenda of European e-Justice, which became one of the Presidency priorities.Pavel is fluent in English and German and has a passive knowledge of French.

Jakub Pastuszek
Jakub Pastuszek graduated from the Law Faculty, Masaryk University in Brno and worked at the Ministry of Justice from September 2002 till December 2003. In January 2004, he moved to the Permanent Representation in Brussels.
During the Czech Presidency he will be chairing a working group for European Judicial Network (in criminal matters), possibly also a working party on cooperation in criminal matters (COPEN) and at the same time he will be an alternate of the chairperson of the Committee for Article 36 of the Treaty on the EU (CATS).27.11.2008 -
Denisa Fikarová
Denisa Fikarová graduated from the Faculty of Law of the West Bohemian University in Pilsen (2002) and the Faculty of Social Science of Charles University (2003), where she was awarded Bachelor Degree diploma in International Territorial Studies. Then she continues her studies at Faculty of Law, University Passau, Germany, where she was awarded Academic degree LL. M. in 2003. Since February 2004 she worked at the Ministry of Justice, at EU department. From September 2007 till January 2008 she went on Traineeship in DG Judicial cooperation in criminal matters of the Secretariat General of the Council of the EU. She moved to the Permanent Representation in Brussels in July 2008. During the Czech Presidency she will be chairing a working group on substantive criminal law (DRIOPEN).

Miroslav Hrstka
Mirek Hrstka graduated from the Law Faculty, Masaryk University in Brno and worked at the Ministry of Justice from August 2005 till March 2008. He moved to the Permanent Representation in Brussels in April 2008. During the Czech Presidency he will be chairing a working group of the Committee on Civil Law Matters on the Proposal of the Regulation on succession and wills.

Martina Němcová
Martina Němcová graduated from the Faculty of Languages and Natural Science of the Silesian University in Opava, where she was awarded a diploma in Czech Philology and English Philology (2005), and from the Faculty of Law of the Palacký University in Olomouc (2005). She worked at the Ministry of Justice from December 2005 till May 2008 when she moved to work at the Permanent Representation in Brussels. During the Czech Presidency she will be chairing working group G4 on company law.

Video: The e-Justice - Use of Videoconferencing
A short movie was presented at the Informal Meeting of Ministers for Justice and Home Affairs on 16 January 2009 in the Congress Centre of Prague for the first time. Deputies of Member States were consequently set up with the movie at the international conference "e-Justice without barriers" in Prague (17 - 18 February 2009). The main goal of the movie is the propagation of digitising the judicial system.
